Madison, GA Peach Meet Two Day Event

(Peach Meet)
Madison, GA
Steve Edwards
(205) 914-5760
I have been having some difficulty finding someone to do a presentation at the 30th Annual M-WTCA Peach Meet in 2026. A presentation is scheduled for Saturday morning from 10:30 AM to
11:30 AM, but can be 30 to 45 minutes. Any recommendations or suggestions for a presenter and topic would be appreciated.
I have been trying for several years now to find someone to take over as the host for the Annual M-WTCA Peach Meet. I was the Assistant Host for eight years from 2007 through 2014, during the years Doug Fowler was the Host. I took over the Area M financial checking account in 2013, when Doug was no longer able to keep up with it due to his health. I have maintained this account since then and had Brent Richardson authorized on the account last year. When Doug took over the account in 2007, there was less than $400.00 in it. This made it very difficult to plan and pay for expenses for each meeting, as the M-WTCA Peach Meet was a three day meeting and expenses were considerably more than we had in the account. We were faced with not being able to refund registration fees once we rented the facility, tables and chairs. Plus there were supplies and equipment that were needed. Doug and I set a goal to keep expenses and registration fees as low as possible, but still have a reasonable gain each year so that we would eventually have enough funds to cover the expenses of a meeting in advance of the event and have funds to buy supplies and/or equipment, such as a PA system, projector and new screen. It took us several years to accomplish that goal, but when I took over the account in 2013, we had met that financial goal. There is currently $9060.91 in the checking account. I took over as the Host in 2015, and the planned meeting in 2026 will be my tenth year to host the event.
I am currently the only living M-WTCA member to have attended all of the Peach Meets. It is time that someone else takes over as the Host after the 2026 Peach Meet, as I am no longer willing and able to continue to do so. I had hoped that Brent would be willing to become the Host after a couple of years being the Assistant Host, but he is not willing to do so. I think Brent does want to continue and possibly expand the Fall Peach Meet. Brent and I will continue to try to find a new Host for the Peach Meet and any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. I think Eric Christensen would possibly take over as Host, but Ed Hobbs does not think he would be a good choice and I am somewhat in agreement. I plan to turn over the Area M financial account to Brent after the 30th Annual M-WTCA Peach Meet in 2026, and should a suitable new Host be found for the Meet, they would need to coordinate with Brent concerning expenses. It is with a heavy heart that I made this decision, as the Annual M-WTCA Peach Meet is very special to me.

USMWT CA Area Meetings in Indiana have usually been in the Southern or the Northern part on the state. The Southern meeting is at McCormick Creek State Park. Usually in March, next year’s meeting will be the twentieth consecutive meeting. This is a two-day meeting at a great location. The Northern meeting has recently been in an old kitchen cabinet factory, in Nappanee, Indiana. Coppescommons.com is the web address. Coppes commons has become a destination for shoppers and tourist. Coppes is famous for making their own brand of the “Hoosier Kitchen Cabinet” from 1902 thru 1940. Coppes is still in business, making it the oldest continuous operating kitchen factory in the U.S. I have volunteered at Coppes for many years as the Coppes Historian. The actual room used for the tool meetings has moved around in the buildings, depending on the space available. This year we will be in an upstairs room (elevator accessible) of the earliest building, built in approx. 1892. Plenty of room to spread out on tool tables. The owner of Coppes Commons is also a MWTCA member and has generously provided the room for no cost, his personal tool collection is also located in this room. My goal is to have a low-cost meeting for the attendees. Check out the web site and see all the shops located in Coppes Commons.
